Volunteers/Careers

VOLUNTEERS:

If you have an interest in volunteering for any of these roles, please email Doug[at]snmic.com.  (Please note ‘@’ should be replaced in email address.  This is done to advert unnecessary spam.)

Bidder Question Tracker (needed now) A volunteer to monitor the Workforce Connections website thru July 23, 2010 for any and all questions asked and answered.  This volunteer will also determine the relevancy of the question to the overall SNMIC strategy, analyze and provide comments/concerns back to the committee.

Budget Coordinator – This volunteer will prepare and deliver the final budget preparation.  A template has been provided by Workforce Connections that pre-populates the proper formulas.  Coordinator will need to communicate with SNMIC CEO, Admin and Accountant on existing budgets and forecasted expenditures related to the Carot Grant.

Cohort Timelines – Volunteer needed to Gantt Chart out the 90 day orientation in a chart that can be published within the RFP application.  Timeline should demonstrate pre-orientation (intake/onboarding) as well as ant remediation that may be required.  Items that should be included in charting are:  coaching, skill enhancement, employer feedback, etc.)

Goal Gatherer - We are looking for one individual to review the RFP in detail and extract all of the deliverables and goals and insert those in a working spreadsheet.  The template of the spreadsheet has already been completed.  After all of the goals are collected, we will begin to look for task managers for each.

Matched Leverage Resources – This volunteer(s) will identify all participants and partners of the grant application and determine if/how matching funds can be leveraged.  These are in-kind dollars (use of space, allocated personnel, and other budgeted costs).  A 1-sheet should be developed to be shared with participants to standardize the valuation.  The volunteer will help draft letters and documentation demonstrating the match and how the program will benefit from it.  The volunteer(s) will create a list/summary of proposed matches and present back to the committee for final review and feedback and proposed additions.  A generic paragraph will be written and included in the “Support Letters” that includes the amount of the match.  Volunteers(s) will need to work closely with Support Letter volunteer(s).

Performance Level Metrics – We need a volunteer to take the Performance Level grid found on page 4 of the grant. Add new columns for SNMIC Programs, establish our goals and forecast our success ratios by cohort.

Policy Writer(needed now) The grants advisory committee will be working on a document that will be stored on a virtual server.  Multiple people will be contributing to this and other documents.  Before we grant permissions to members of this committee, we are looking for someone to write the ‘rules of engagement’ and what can be added and how to ‘mark up’ the proposed changes for collective review.

Problem Statement Writer – Volunteer is responsible for drafting the overall problem statement.  Will collaborate with Workforce Shortage Statistics and may be the same volunteer.  The problem statement should clearly define the depth of Nevada’s issues.  Examples…the fact that Nevada has the highest unemployment level in the United States today.  Our health care professional shortages are the worst in the country.  Our Rural areas are grossly under served.  Our capacity in public higher education is limited while state budgets are being cut deeper.  Our new grads are not finding work.  This statement should be ugly.  It should paint out the worst possible scenario.

Proposal Layout – Volunteer will be responsible for the final layout of the SNMIC proposal, ensuring that the technical specs and layout requirements outlined in Section 5.0 of the RFP are met.  Volunteer must be proficient in Microsoft Word and formatting to include the use of headers/footers, page breaks, etc.  This volunteer will work with the point person for the proposal, prepare and produce the final copies for delivery on August 13, 2010.

Support Letter Coordinator – Volunteer will be the point person for all support letters.  Responsible for management of Dropbox folder, management of example support letters, target list spreadsheet and overall collection of support letters.  Volunteer will need to color-code spreadsheet used for target-list and send reminders to contact person who is requesting the submittal of support letters.

Support Letters (Employers) – Volunteer(s) will work with SNMIC Recruitment Task Force to identify and secure letters of support from a diverse group of employers.  Letters should be garnered from acute care hospitals, long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, rehab hospitals, hospices, and private practices.  A generic draft letter should be written to provide to the employer base, for customization and printing on company letterhead.  Collaboration should occur with Matched/Leveraged Resources volunteer(s) to include some level of match from each participating employer.

Support Letters (Professional Associations) – Volunteer(s) will solicit letters of support from all health care professional associations.  These should include Nevada Hospital Association, Nevada Health Care Association, Nevada Nurse Association, Clark County Medical Society, HIMS, EHRNevada, Nevada System of Higher Education , Chamber of Commerce, etc.  .  A generic draft letter should be written to provide to the school for customization and printing on company letterhead.

Support Letters (Schools) – Volunteer(s) will work with SNMIC Education Task Force and all participating nursing/allied health schools to identify and secure letters of support.  Letters should be garnered from all Southern Nevada Nursing Schools.  A generic draft letter should be written to provide to the school for customization and printing on company letterhead.  Collaboration should occur with Matched/Leveraged Resources volunteer(s) to include some level of match from each participating employer.

Timelines of Major Activities – Volunteer(s) will create a time line (preferably Gantt Chart) of all major activities that will be conducted during and for this grant.  This is where we will demonstrate the staggered entry of the various programs beside the nurse internship.  This chart will be heavily reliant on the workforce assessment that we conduct.  It should only be for 9 months, but should have a qualifying paragraph that talks about new programs being developed thru employer-training partner collaboration.

Workforce Shortage Statistics – A volunteer to extract workforce shortage data from the John Packham Reports that is relevant to this RFP.  Parse and only use data relevant to Southern Nevada (Clark County, Esmeralda, Nye and Lincoln).
