Needs Assesment
Probably the most critical part of our grant application is our ability to gather an industry wide needs assessment in very little time. Most Southern Nevada health care employers took this survey in February 2010. Completion of the survey is a requirement to participate as an employer in this grant. This survey allows us to determine the immediate and short term staffing needs while forecasting future needs. We all know this will be a moving target for years to come due to the current economy. The current recession has led to unanticipated retention as registered nurses and health care professionals are staying in the profession longer. Some of the recently retired have re-entered. Those working part-time are now working full-time. And some have taken on a second job. All along the way, Nevada’s workforce continues to age faster than the rest of the United States.
Employers participating in this grant (offering OJTs) will need to complete the needs assessment survey if they have not done so already. Additionally, they will be required to complete this standardized survey on a periodic basis so we can re-gauge what our training needs are.
