Grant Amount: $750,000
So how does the grant get funded? Every year, the Department of Labor provides Workforce Investment Act (WIA) dollars to state Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs). Nevada’s State Board is also know as the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board (GWIB). The GWIB then assigns management of the WIA funds to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), who then delegates administration of these funds to one of the regional Workforce Investment Boards. In Nevada there are two boards, the North and the South. The Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board (SNWIB) is known as Workforce Connections. Workforce Connections puts these WIA dollars to work with their Service Providers. This grant RFP opportunity (Carrot Grant) is what SNMIC is pursuing.
